I use these:

No problems at 1/180s with a AF-540FGZ.

* Camera on M
* Camera: Fn->Flash->Flash Mode: Flash On
* Flash turned to ON (not wireless)
* Flash mode: M
* Do not rely on the include batteries
* Do not use rechargable batterie in the receivers! Most need 1.5v and will not work with 1.2v
Yup, that's the set I just got. Did the antenna mod, not sure if it was needed or not, and they work perfectly, so far...

PS This is a picture I just took of the flashes. The outers are vivitar 2500 thyristors mounted on jianisi pt-04tm receivers, connected with pc sync cables. The center flash is a promaster ftd7000m using the built in wireless sensor.
The viv's are at 1/16th power while the 7000m is at 1/64th.
Picture taken from about 20 feet. k100d with a 55mm vivitar macro at f8 with a 180 shutter. I have no probs using these at 180 shutter at even longer distances. Also using fresh out of the box duracell 800mah 1.2v "hybrids"...

I Got the new ctr-301 with two recivers
Transmitter on my k20d and triggering my nikon sb-24 is ok 1/180
Triggering my Pentax AF-540FGZ not ok. syncs at 1/20

Have tryed the pentax flash on both recivers and the batteries from the nikon in the pentax etc. Same result.

All settings on manuel and 1/8 power

Any idea what's wrong beside it's some cheap crap?

In my experience, the eBay triggers can sync up to 1/125th. On some occasions I've had to sync them at 1/30 or slower. With the Cybersyncs, I've consistently hit 1/180th.

I actually get the same results with ctr-301's optical trigger. 1/180 with the nikon and 1/30 with the pentax flash.
The pentax flash works great with it's own wireless function in both pttl and manuel.

So wheres the delay.
If i put the side by side i actually can see the pentax being slower att 1/180

Phaser: I think the only conclusion we can reach is that the Pentax flashes have some sort of timing issue w/ external sync.
I tested out my new K20D this weekend w/ the fleabay trigger (the "V2s" ones you have) and it worked fine at 1/180 w/ Nikon flashes, which matches the behavior of my old K10D...
Pick up a few cheapo Vivitar flashes if you want to go strobist and leave the Pentax flashes off when doing this...

Kyrios or anyone other reaching 1/180s with pentax flashes
Do you get 1/180s with the pentax flash connected directly to the recivers hot shoe or only by using cable and pc hotshoe adapter.

I have no trouble with either the Pentax AF200T or AF280T off-camera at 1/180 via Flash Waves, so let's not rush to blame Pentax.

I wonder if there could be any combination of "reciver/hotshoe adapter" connected to the pentax flash using it's pc port, or what it is, which could make faster sync speeds.

I don't blame Pentax but i find it a little strange that a trigger thats work great with one flash doesn't work ok with the pentak. The only thing the trigger is doing is to short circuit + and - . Is it not?

If thats the case the only difrence is my nikon flash is 4volt on the shoe and the pentax flas is 3 volt.

Anyone have any updates on this with the CTR-301 triggers and Pentax flashes? I get the exact same problem as others have reported. Won't fire at over 1/30th.

Got the same set of PT-04s (gen 3), Pentax 540 and a couple of 285HVs... fires up to 1/180 without any mods... No problems what so ever....

It's not necessary if your trigger has a hot shoe. If you ever open one up, you'll see the wires from the PC port and the shoe go back to the very same solder point.

i can add just for the record that new ctr-301 worked for me with Sigma 500super at 1/125 max and with AF540 just at 1/30 but i didn't change the battery i just relayed on measuring the battery voltage and short circuit current. i have sended it back and expecting Pt04v2s set (yangnuo or ijanisi). This thread made me very suspiciosly reg my choise... i have found flash wafes for 200 $ just 1 receiver and 1 trigger its way to much for me.... do you know guys some other internet shops where i can buy it?
