kata 3n1-20 sling-backpack

The other week after I bought a new lens I needed a new bag for my camera and len(s). The guy at the store showed me this new bag by Kata Video bags camera bags Kata - Manufacturer of camera bags I hope the link works. Gotta say so far I'm very happy with it. Its got plent y of room for all my camera stuff (still small but growing), and very comfortable to carry.

I love Kata. I'm impressed with their stuff and I think most of their stuff is right up there with Lowepro.

I had the DR-467 for about $60 and it's got fantastic value for a camera backpack. I love their R-101 series backpacks.

I've been scouring the net and it really looks impressive. Lots of videos on youtube too.

How do you find the comfort level of the shoulder straps when fully loaded? How is the tripod carrying thing?

Any one knows the true difference between the 10/20/30? The Kata site has the same slid show for all three bags.

Boyscout I am pretty sure the only real difference is size.

Check out youtube, it has a number of videos about the bag The Kata site has the same slideshow but if you look at the photos of it having stuff in it, they show how much stuff fits in each size.

I have the 30 and I really like it. It is comfortable and easy to adjust the straps into any configuration you need. Use it as sling bag for very short treks and use both straps for longer journeys. There is a waist strap also on the 30 (I am not sure about the smaller sizes) that redistributes the weight even better for long treks. The Tripod holder which came with the bag is simple but works. My tripod with ball head fits easily although I have to say I have only used it so far for my monopod.

It holds a lot - I have a K20D with DA* 50- 135 with hood attached, and 5 other lenses in bottom section. This works for me although probably would be a little big for others. Plenty of room in top section too.

Dont know the actual measures, but had the change to compare them in a store. size 10 is a nice bag but definitely too small to my use, I prefer a common shoulder bag in that size.

20 and 30 seem to be otherwise practically the same size but 30 is good two inches wider than 20.

I was to purchase the 20 but took the 30 instead for the single reason that I could just put my Sigma 100-300mm attached to the body in the intended place for a quick grab. Sigma also goes nicely in the upper compartment if I choose to have another lens in my body in the prime compartment.

Earlier I left the Sigma too often home because I did not have a good bag.

If I did not have that big Sigma I would choose the 20.

Size 30 sure is rather big, but amazingly easy to carry, and the sling really works, even when I ware it with my thick winter coat.

I recommend either 20 or 30 if you want a convenient bag that works both as a sling or as usual back bag. If I have more load to carry a longer time I simply take the other strap and use this as a back bag. Very convenient!

Well, I found these metric measures if you need it:

3N1-10
* Outside (W x D x H): 22 x 16.5 x 41 cm
* Inside (W x D x H): 19 x 15 x 28.5 cm
* Weight: 1.2 kg

3N1-20
* Outside (W x D x H): 23.5 x 19 x 44 cm
* Inside (W x D x H): 22 x 16 x 30 cm
* Weight: 1.35 kg

3N1-30
* Outside (W x D x H): 32 x 19 x 45 cm
* Inside (W x D x H): 29,5 x 16 x 30 cm
* Weight: 1.5 kg

I've got the 20, and I like it as well. Almost exactly the same size as a lowepro slingshot 200 (which I had prior to the kata). Quite a versitile bag, straps are pretty comfy even under full load..

the 20 is very comfortable to carry all the stuff in. i find if i leave my 70-300 lens on, it just fits inside with a room to spare. i'ld definitly recommend it. the side pouches are handy for putting spare sd cards in as well as batteries or whatever else. i tend to do a lot of travelling on airlines and the one thing i like is you can fit 2 books into the top compartment. very happy with the bag.

I have the Kata 3in1 30. I looked at them in the store and read user comments. I got the biggest one because there isn't too much difference in overall size or price. If you get the 20 your going to find it too small in no time if you accumulate any gear and then you have to spend more money to get the bigger bag, so buy it first and save some money. It's the same with tripods, you spend more money buying the cheaper smaller ones and upgrading, so it would be cheaper to get the best one first. But back to bags, I tried the slingshot in the store too, it has a wider strap but only one and you can only wear it on the one shoulder ( you can't switch sides). If you load it up it will get tiring as I read in some remarks of those who bought it. The Kata can be worn as a backpack or a sling on either shoulder. My 2 cents.
