How do i associate 540FGZ to K100D via infra-red wireless?

Ive recently purchased a pentax 540FGZ flash gun to attatch to my K100D. I want to use the flash using the infra-red wireless association but i cant find any clues as to how to do this in both the K100D instruction manual or the 540FGZ manual. Can anybody help me? It would be massively appreciated.

The K100 and K100 Super aren't capable of wireless flash control, unfortunately.

However, with an AF360 or AF540 mounted on the hot shoe, one can wirelessly control other flashes.

I'm pretty sure you can use the onboard flash to trigger the 540.....but I guess that's not what you are asking....

Can't be done with the K100D. Only way you can fire an off camera flash with the K100D is the have either a 360 or 540 mounted in the hot shoe.

Well, that too. But the K100D cannot do it alone.

Can the new K200D fire the AF360/540 via wireless already?

Wireless in this case means communication with the other flash thru a preflash -- that happens a split second before the actual flash. There is no Infrared communication between any camera or flash that I'm aware of.

i wish Pentax can come up with an infared-wireless system control several flash units like Nikon or Canon so I can shoot without using the little flash on my K20d.

You don't have that right. Both Nikon's and Canon's wireless systems use a pre-flash not infrared.

If you don't want your on board flash to effect the picture, you can turn if off in the custom menu.

And I don't think Canon or Nikon provide wireless on board -- but rather as a feature of external flashes you add to your camera.

Tho on second read, maybe you just want to control some old flashes from different brands? You can do that by radio using various triggers, provided it's all manual -- and I'm sure there's other cravats.
