That looks like the one Andi Lo got. Here's the one I have: NEW KPS U-13C Magnifying Eyepiece 1.35x for Canon Nikon on eBay, also, Other Accessories, Photographic Accessories, Cameras (end time 21-Jan-09 10:30:20 GMT)

This is the packaging:

It comes with the 2 kinds of eyepieces I have and is sure to fit perfectly on my K20D. Look for the U-13C model

Ah, so it turns out they are two versions, UMC and U-13C. I might have bought the *wrong* one but I can't afford the U-13C anyway so I'm quite happy with mine now (Kinda like Katzeye/hongkong screen difference). So if you want to buy the KPS, make sure the one you get is the one that you want.

If I had to do it over again I'd probably save up and get the U-13C though!

Andi, how much did you get the UMC for? It's available here where I'm at for about $60

I got it for 57$ CAD delivered, so slightly less than what you have (CAD to USD difference). I hope you are not actually talking about U-13C being available for 60$

Actually it's the U-13C that's $60 USD here

I think the ones on ebay are from Korea. They're reliable and can be trusted

Just found this thread while looking at another thread!!

Curious if anyone has had any experience with using the KPS 1.3x with glasses? I use the OME-35 (or whatever its called) with glasses and it can be okay but I find myself pressing my eyes up against my glasses up against the OME-35 magnifier. wonder if its the same with the KPS?

wow, i want one for my K-x. What are the differences between the two versions?

Many auctions do not state which one, although it may be "EP-EX15". I see a UMC, 1MC, 2MC, some say 1.35x, only some include pentax plate.

KPS, great deals on Camera Accessories, Tripods Supports on eBay!

Which one??

*scratching head* It confuses me, too. It seems the cheaper one doesn't have what was described as the 'D3-like' eyepiece, but if that's the only difference, it's OK by me: it's the big round shadey one I'm interested in. I have the OME-53, which works nicely for me, but I'm always game for a viewing improvement.

It mystifies me why Pentax took their magnifier out of production.

It seems that the U-13C can no longer be found. I really wanted both eyepieces, for those that have it, what do you prefer and why?

Lastly, there are some 1.35x ones, I presume they magnify a bit more than the 1.3x the OP was talking about? or is it a gimmick?

For those that use this with a different focusing screen - which do you think was more help? I am reluctant to change out my focus screen (partly for spot metering), but this seems like a very unintrusive upgrade.

I use the Pentax magnifier and a recently acquired katz-eye focus screen. While I certainly like the magnifier, if I had to choose only one the focus screen would win hands-down.

Changing the screen was a quick and painless process, and doesn't appear to have affected my spot metering in the slightest. I've found I'm able to not only manually focus faster, but far more accurately. I can't recommend it enough if you use MF often.

I think the biggest perk of the magnifying eye-cup is comfort (it keeps my nose off the LCD), it does marginally magnify the viewfinder image, but the difference is far less noticeable (or useful to my mind) than an improved focusing screen.
