Will this work with the *ist DL? I've just bought one as my first DSLR, one of the reasons is to be able to focus and expose manually. I'd think this would help.

Thanks

focus screen compatibility

I noticed that this screen lists compatibility, I went and got one of the cheap Chinese screens that I had purchased for my DL and it was a bit too big, perhaps it was made to the wrong dimensions, but it fit the DL perfectly. Side note, I was super careful with it and still ended up spending 30 min getting the dust out of the viewfinder and it still isn't perfect and will bug me forever. (Suggestions anyone?)

Define 'quickly'. I ordered that back on the 10th. I didn't think it would be here just yet, but you said 'quickly', so I'm curious.

Just bought one too (via ebay link). Can't wait to try it out. For $35 CDN how can you go wrong.

For those of you who ordered from focusingscreen.com which one did you purchase? I see that some have bought the K3 by Nikon but there are also a number of Canon screens as well. Is it just personal preference?

I'm planning on getting one for my istDL.

Thanks

I have a question about black out. You say it blacks out at small apertures, is this only when you are manually stopping down? Does this mean that if you use modern AF lenses, you won't run ino this problem?

it should only be an issue on the pentax digital bodies if you are using M42 lenses

even manual K mount lenses are focused wide open and stopped down only for the shot (or DOF preview, or Green button)

Well, that would be nice if it were entirely true. Unfortunately, on longer glass, even with modern AF, the blackout can be a problem wide open. Don't forget, wide open for some long glass is not uncommon @ f5.6--here are where problems can begin.

just gave it a shot. it will be nice to have better confirmation of manual focus points.

I never shot film and was surprised when I got a hold of my grandfather's old cameras and they had the split prism. I wondered why they ever stopped supplying them.

I am curious if there's any different in quality to purchase from these two Chinese company? Does anyone prefer one over the other?

It hasn't been a problem for me with the $29 prism yet as the focus feed back lamp continues to function even when the prism blacks out at 5.6-8.

I am more concerned about potential effects on metering but have yet to get that sorted out.
