Can someone suggest a wireless remote for the K20D?

Thanks,

Pentax sells one too. But truthfully, it needs to be right in front or behind the camera to work as it seems to have a narrow angle signal beam. I have one and it is handy as long as you know its limits.
I do like the looks of the one Jodacast96 posted too, for $2.00 more and free shipping to boot, I think I would go with it if I didn't have the pentax one already.

I have one similar to this one IR Wireless Remote for Nikon D60 Canon 400D Pentax K10D - eBay (item 250375167129 end time Feb-23-09 15:45:38 PST). I am sure it functions with the K20 as well but do some research.
It is small but I don't think it is as small as the remote that Pentax sells. It will not hide in the compartment of my Travor battery grip.
It basically will operate the shutter only, which was all I wanted it for. If you have the camera programmed correctly, you can push the button, the camera focuses and then the shutter is activated. This remote has no shutter lock for long exposures and I have not found that any other buttons have a function for the K10. It is somewhat of a multiple brand remote design so perhaps it has other functions for other cameras.
I have yet to see if it will work my dvd player or tv but my neighbor's garage doors were going up and down just now as I push buttons with it aimed at his house. Interesting.

(justkiddingaboutthegaragedoorthing)

edit: It just occurred to me that on the example of the remote above, there are tiny letters such as P, C and N which must mean these buttons and their functions relate to Pentax, Canon and Nikon in their respective areas on the remote. See what you get when you stop and think for a minute?

I have the Pentax original and also the IR REMOTE that comes with the Pentax IQ90WR P&S (which also works with the istD and the k20D).

I have used either remote on plain daylight from about 25 ft away and it works fine. The following picture was taken using the IR remote from the 90WR camera, with my K20D, using 3 sec delay with IR.

Attachment 28515

Picture is cropped on the sides and a bit top and bottom. BTW, I am the tall guy to the far right.

Hey, btw, *do* any of the off-brand ones fit in a K20's grip?

I do not have such grip, (yet) but if a threaded socket isn't good enough, it's the kind of thing that may as well stay with the camera.

Hi Ratmagiclady

Re your query:

Somehow I rather doubt it, as the Pentax Remote F is relatively small and is specifically designed to slip neatly into the slot prepared for it, in the slide-out battery compartment.

Best regards
Richard

You might be interested in the Pentax Remote C. It doesn't fit in the grip, but instead is attached to the neck strap.

This unit is a combined shutter remote and flash remote.
