cleaning filters

Ok...I am not a TOTAL moron (don't ask my wife...her opinion does not count)

I am trying to clean my polarizer. A Hoya pro. The first time I found some small spots to clean I used my lens cleaning pen. Well that added some extra problems. So I stopped using that I am using a proper lens cleaning solution with a micro cloth and I can't get it all off...I just seem to be smearing it out. Now I have a circular haze. Is there a coating on these lens that I might damage with the cleaner...and if not does anyone have any better ideas?!?!?

Please?

Well, no need to panic, some of these modern coatings are just a bear to get clean, especially of anything greasy. You probably haven't hurt anything. I never set much store by microfiber cloths, ...fresh lens tissue, you know is clean, in general, ...Any more details?

I have a Hoya UV filter with an endless supply of oil from the inside circlip. I couldn't get it clean with silly micro fiber and lens solution, so I resorted to dish soap, a lens tissue and warm water. I then bought a dedicated super-soft cotton wash cloth for lens/filter cleaning. Micro fiber is only good in a pinch, IMO.

I heard that rolling paper (rizzla, smoking ect..) could be the answer of all this little oil on your lens and filters. Need to check yet. Does anyone try it yet?
