Quick question!

Will this wireless trigger & receiver work on an old manual flash?
I have 540 and also an old Albinar Thrystor.

Thanks,

I use mine with a couple of old Vivitars and an Pentax AF280

You will have to go manual flash of course, and no pre flash stuff

My V2s goes to 1/180. You can't go to 1/500 because the K* doesn't send the sync signal out over 1/180 AFAIK...they didn't want to handle the inevitable "bug" complaints about black bars on the image

I received my V4 transmitter and receiver today. I had been curious if it would work with the other 16 channel receivers that GadgetInfinty.com also sells. These are the ones that have the mono cord permanently attached, no hotshoe and sell for $14.95. I had bought a set of these last year, but I never got around to modding the transmitter to add the external antenna. Well the older 16 channel receivers DO work with the new Cactus V4s, albeit the channels dont match. On the transmiiter I have the 1-4 dip switches set to on, and the old 16 channel receivers I have 1-3 set to off and 4 set to on. I haven't played with any other combinations since I got one to work. So, if anyone has a set of these older 16 channel receivers, they can be used with the new Cactus V4 transmitters.

i believe this test is misleading. placing the receivers literally right next to each other is going to cause some interference, even with the poverty wizards.

i did a little more testing, i got another receiver too.

max range for 100% flashes is maybe... 30-40 feet. after that you start misfiring. it is very curious because simply angling the camera different will give you back that 100%. it is very touchy about the direction and position of the antenna.

that said, you get what you paid for. i knew th ey werent going to be perfect. i love what i got for the price. maybe later i'll convice myself to buy alien bees, but these will work for now

Wow, my V4s work much better than the guy's in the video, even when placed side by side. I have not had a misfire yet, though I haven't had a need to go beyond 25-30 feet myself.

apparently the first batch had some QC issues. they said it was a 'bug' and had it stamped out so maybe we got the good ones

and i cant claim to have made up 'poverty wizards'

I don't know if it is just me, but I have looked at a bunch of these reviews, and they don't seem to be well suited to video. Flashes don't appear to fire on the video, and the narrator says they did, and vice versa. The most useless one is the review of the Ebay trigger by the guy whose cat gets into the act.

I'v just got v4 from gadget infinity.... works fine, missfiring appears just during long series of shots, synch to 1/180 with af540fgz (i had a problem with 301p: synch to 1/30) with sigma 500super to 1/125 but i have general problemS with this gun (it works sometimes on 1/180 without strip of darkness but mostly at this speed dark strip at the bottom appears) most important it does work even with week rechargable batteries (new alcaline has 1,6V iddle i was trying with 1,26V rechargable hydride and it worked!!! ) I just get new Metz 48 AF-1 it works as AF540FGZ 1/180 synch - no problem....
