Sigma Teleconverter 2X

I just purchased a Sigma teleconverterfor my K10D. The tc goes on the camera fine, but I can't get it to attach to the lens. The lens is a sigma 50-500mm. Does anyone know why I can't get it to fit?

Hey Godfrey,
I don't have the bigma, but I'm pretty sure you have to zoom it past 100mm and slide a switch to prevent damage to the rear element with a TC
