This may be a stupid question, but here goes:

One of my 3rd party batteries for my K20D ran out of charge but now won't recharge. I know that charger works fine. Does that mean this battery is dead?

Yep. Quality control on the off-brand 3rd party batteries ain't the greatest.

Batteries always seem to draw some heated debate but here's my 2 pennies - the only non-pentax batteries I would spend money on are the Konica-Minolta OEM NP-400s. They are spec'd 100mAh lower than the Pentax D-Li50s but otherwise exactly the same. And they typically cost about 1/2 what the "generic" batteries run. B&H carries the NP-400s for $9.95. I have 3 of them I rotate in with the D-Li50 on my K20D.

Third-Party-Batterys never make sense. They´re cheap made and often dangerous.

For example, here in Germany, there are very good second-party-battery-producers, which offers absolutely fine quality for really friendly prices.

I think, it´s the same in the United States. Or isn´t it?
