I orderd a focusing screen a week ago only to find out the seller was removed because it looks like it was traced back to a clothing store!

I got my money back (Hurray for PayPal!).

Has this happened to any one else?

I ordered another one.

Has anyone had any experieince with this seller?

Split Image Focus Screen for Pentax ist D DL K10d K100D - eBay (item 220406126994 end time May-30-09 05:08:19 PDT)

There are a lot of Chinese internet stores selling these, I guess.

I don't want to get burned again!

Bought from this seller before and got my split screen. But then, it gets dusty easily as there is a sticky film covering the screen which you need to peel off before installation. After installation, still collect/attracts dust so I havbe bought from Focusing Screen. The model is K20D FSL and it cost about USD$60.00.

Just collected from the post office and installed it on the K20D. Wow nice and bright too.

bought mine from jinfinance

took about 3 weeks to come.

went right into my K10D and agrees with focus confirmation.

takes some practice to always look streight into th efinder with F5.6 lenses to avoid darkening out of the screen, but is an absolute pleasure to use on my also newly aquired 85mm F1.4

I have the same problem. I bought a jinfinance screen with the peel off cover. Any body have any suggestion on how to eliminate the sticky film?

Mine didn't come with tweezers. I had a pair at home but metal instead of plastic so I wrapped the tips with a layer of masking tape to soften the "bite". Worked well.

I'd say you do need something; gripping it with fingertips ain't easy within the small space, not to mention dust. Alligator clips from Dick Smith should work too, probably better thanks to its self clamp.

PS: Lucky mine didn't use the sticky film, it came in a small plastic bag. I was extremely careful to avoid dust yet after the 1st install I saw a wiggly fiber and a few dust spots. I'm convinced they came with the screen as after I took it out blew off reinstalled it was then all clean.

with some residue i had it was suggested that i washed it in water and mild detergent very carefully and then rinsed it in distilled water and let it dry on paper towel resting on cocktail sticks under a glass!

worked nicely!

Thanks

what residue?

it's funny but i never noticed any sticky residue with the peel off cover, and although I reciently noticed a but of lint on the screen in my K10D, it was easily removed with a blower brush, therefore I conclude that the screen is not acting as a dust magnet, or that things stick perminantly to it.

maybe I am lucky, but I don't have that problem with my screen from jinfinance

I bought the jinfinance screen too--no problems with residue at all.

I have to try that, maybe this weekend. Now let me see if I understand you correctly, after the distilled water rinse, place the screen on a paper towel, rest the paper towel on cocktail sticks, place the whole thing under glass? That last sentence is a little bit strange.

Lucky you. Mine attracts not just dust but lints! An it gets worst everytime I use the camera.
