dyslexic memory card reader

I recently bought two Sandisk 4GB extreme III memory cards, and my MobileMate SD+ can't read them. I use the mobile mate because it's small and unobtrusive and it also reads microSD cards which is useful with my mobile phone. My hyperdrive doesn't have a problem with them, actually it transfers data from these cards at rates faster than any of my four 2Gb EX III memory cards do.

does anyone know why this is?

It seems that older mobilemates are not SDHC compatible (sddr-103 is not). Sddr-104 should work ok.

Jieffe is right, your Mobile Mate may not be SDHC compatible. Anything above 2GB is considered SDHC

I know the feeling ... my shiny new integrated card reader refuses to read SDHC cards too I bought instead a cheap Hama card reader (6 euros) ....

The $10 house brand "Dynex" internal readers at Best Buy read SDHC(!) even though it doesn't say on the package.

I see you're in Australia so that doesn't exactly help It seems readers are hit and miss these days. It's not as elegant or convenient but your card should have come with a little USB adapter. I have to use that in my dad's computer even though it has a built-in reader and is fairly recent...

Digitalis I also have a Sansdisk Mobilemate SD+. Mine works with 8GB Kingston SDHC cards. It does say right on the Mobilemate SD+ reader that it supports SDHC cards. Close inspection mine does say SDDR 104 on it. I agree the form factor is just right. I always carry it with me. I had the SDDR 103 to come to think of it. Then got the 104 when SDHC came out. You can still get the 104. In the States B&H has them for $12US.
