Hi guys, i see you mainly talk about how the AF280T works with a digital camera, but how about an old ME Super?
Is the flash under / over-gifted for the camera?
Would they work fine together?
How the 280 compares to the 400?

(Sorry for so many questions, I only start learning about flashes.)

The AF-280T is a fine choice for an ME Super. The ME Super lacks TTL flash support so you'd be using either Manual or Auto-flash; the AF-280T handles both.

Unusually for a older flash, the AF-280T has a bounce and swivel head.

There is more than one '400' model so you'll need to be more specific.

I cannot believe this, I have had the AF280T for months thinking I had to use it off camera, put it on the K10 with a new to me A35-105 and the results are fantastic.

Now to take some serious photos.

Thanks everyone.

Haven't used an AF400T myself but should have similar technical capabilities to AF280T. It is however much larger and is intended be mounted on a flash bracket rather than hotshoe. It also has substantially more power, and is designed as a pro unit including facility for external power packs and terminals for wired triggers.

Your ME Super can use pretty much any flash with manual or auto (thyristor) capabilities; it has little built-in flash automation. If it does anything at all, it *might* automatically set the shutter speed to X-sync speed and there *might* be a ready light in the viewfinder if a Pentax-dedicated flash is in use but I'm not 100% sure of either, I'd have to check again.

Thank you for shedding some light, Andrew
Now I only have to get a flash for the ME Super and go playing and trying myself.
