Oh I see.

I'm sure they haven't announced a plate for the K-7 with grip because they aren't sure yet if there'll be enough demand for it.
More likely they need to get hold of an actual K-7 body to get measurements before they do the required technical drawings for any fabrication or machining.

If those L-plates are so good for studio work, why in blazes does the K20D's plate obstruct the PC-sync?
The L-plate were originally made for the K10D which didn't have any PC-socket. As the K20D shares the same physical dimensions as the K10D, they may have deemed it unnecessary to modify it.

K7 L-Plate

I am looking at RRS website, and under new items, they list a L-Plate for the K7 for $140. No picture yet, but they are accepting PRE-ORDERS.

The RRS L-plate for the K20D is different than the one for the K10D. The K20D L-plate will slide to allow using the PC-sync. The plate for the K10D is fixed.

The latest plates have a gap for threading your cables through. I have one for my Canon and it works great for tethered studio work

haven't read the entire thread, but I was at RSS two weeks ago and talked to the owner and he told me they will definitely make a custom plate for the K7. I was picking up a BH-25 for use with my Gitzo traveler, and ended up just getting the pro style head (knob instead of lever release) for my K200D, which is compatible with any Arca-Swiss plate (and cheaper as well!).
