I'd leave it. It's not going to affect your pictures.

Remove the screen and blow off the dust, that's it. DON'T wipe or rub. If you made a mistake, no problem, money will buy you another screen.

Reminds me of the advice . . . .

  1. Carefully remove screen
  2. Carefully place screen on lint-free soft lens cleaning cloth on table.
  3. Carefully smash each dot of dust as hard as you can with a large hammer.
  4. Carefully buy new Focus Screen!!
Voila! Dust on focus screen is no longer a problem!

Seriously - just leave it there.

He's right, live with those dots - coz I tried getting rid of them before. Now I have some scratches on the screen. As well as dots.

I have a K200D which doesn't even have exchangeable focus screens, and had a big piece of dirt stuck under it.
I bought a can of compressed air and managed to blow it out with that. If they really annoy you, you could try that.

codiac2600 has released a youtube video on how to take the focusing screen out for cleaning/replacement.

Just for dust, though, I'd echo the setiments here and at most say it'd be OK to gently blow off the dust with a rocket blower with the focusing screen compartment deployed. Then carefully click it back into place. The focusing screen is pretty fragile - defects are clearly (and permanently) visible through the viewfinder.
