It would be nice to shoot in RAW+jpeg and have the card send only the jpeg for viewing. That would cut down on transfer times as well.

On a side note, at a friends house I rember hooking up my camcorder to a laptop, getting on msn and started typing to her and initiating videoconferencing. Since I was connected through wifi and with a laptop, I could go anywhere around the house.

Scared the snot of her.

Sigh, i want better high speed wireless.

with the pro card you can transer both raw and jpeg and you can also set it to only transfer the raws or only the jpegs.

this has become more of an issue now with the k7 since it seems tethering doesnt work anymore like it did on the k10/20 afaik.

You must be in VA right now, or else you're not in central Grenoble. When I lived there (about 4 years ago now) I had a Freebox wtih 21 mbits/sec which pretty much maxed out my wireless speed. Now it's 100 mbits/sec!

It's not the wireless that blows, but North American internet speeds.

so no one actually has one of these? I googled around a bit but I havent found a lot of real user experiences. Ddi find one saying jpegs took about 12-13 seconds to pop up on the screen altho I am not sure with which camera and the k7 jpegs are quite big. It is a very cool thing to have if you are doing a formal setup with lights and especially if there are more people than just you participating and offering suggestions and comments. better than having to stop to let everyone look thru on the lcd.

Well, 30 *megabits*/ sec. (how Free sells internet access) is about 3.75 *megabytes*/ sec... so 802.11g (or better) should be sufficient to stream at capacity. If you are using "b" then you might notice a bottleneck. Of course, there are way more variables involved, but generally LAN is faster than WAN, unless you live in Japan. (It rhymes!)

FYI: These eye-fi pro cards are 802.11b/g only, and I have no idea what real transfer rates are like. Can't imagine something like it maxing out a "g" network.
