I had the front-focus problem with a Katz-Eye screen on my K20D. There is indeed a factory-installed shim, which I didn't notice when I installed the screen originally.

Anyway, Katz fixed the problem by swapping out the shim (was 0.35mm, now 0.25mm) and now it's perfect.

I also have a jinfinance (I think, not sure of the seller though...) horiz. split on my k200D and didn't need a shim, but that seems to be your problem. Maybe the focus screen is too thick?
