anyone use speedotron?

Anyone use any of the brown line speedotron strobes? I found some that are being sold locally for a pretty decent price. I just don't know much about them.

Thanks!
Dan

Thanks, Kenyee. This is an older one with the house hold sync connector. It should be ok if I get an adapter from that to PC and then a radio trigger, right? No voltage issue?

Thanks!

While nearly impossible to see, the studio shown in my avitar was equipped with three Speedotron D400 Brown Line power supplies driving four Speedotron light heads. While still working well after nearly twenty years, that system was recently replaced by an Elinchrom system consisting of four 400ws monolights. Don't know about trigger voltage since that wasn't an issue when those Speedotron power supplies were first purchased and I've always used a radio trigger since.

By the way, the not-so-great avitar snapshot (intended solely for the avitar in this forum) was taken with a portable flash (mounted on a nearby lightstand & aimed at a side wall) instead of that Speedotron lighting system. The camera is a prop. The model was taking a break in the chair, talking to another model just outside the image area, and posed only long enough for me to take this image before continuing with her conversation.

If you're using a radio trigger, it won't harm your camera
I don't know enough about old speedos. I've just started looking into them as an alternative to alien bees. I'm trying to find out at what point they started offering 6 stops of range because the old ones I've found only go down to 1/4 power...
