New mount on Cactus/ebay triggers/poverty wizards

I bought a couple of the new PT-04TM II receivers as they now have a sync port on the side. These also come an improved mount.

The new mount is on the left, old on the right. That little edge of metal is all it takes to have a very secure vertical or 45 degree tilt with the flash mounted. As I'm not going to use the mount on the new pair, I moved them to the older PT-04TMs. They work there just as well.

Thank you
Russell

The issue on the old V2s' was more that the plastic body that clamp screws onto is not reinforced in any way, so a lot of strobists had issue w/ the trigger body ripping apart and dropping their flashes to the ground :-P

This was the reason for much of the redesign in the Cactus V4 and the CTR-301p a more stable base which is short rather than a tall skinny base of the Cactus V2|V2s.

I would bet the plastic was stressed by people trying to tighten the mount into not moving and that is what caused the body to fail. I think it will be less of an issue with these new mounts.

Thank you
Russell

While the new models are appealing, I already have an investment in the PT-04TM models. The PT-04TM II receiver is half the cost of the Cactus V4 receiver as well. At some point I'll upgrade, but I think I will move on to the Cybersyncs instead.

Thank you
Russell
