EDIT: okay, make that four, I found a SanDisk Ultra II in my Eee...
Just copying six large files totalizing 4.5Gb over to my cards using a dos xcopy command and my SanDisk MicroMate cardreader. All cards tested three times. Fastest time used.
Sandisk Extreme III 30Mb/s edition (8Gb): 313s -> 13.78Mb/s
Sandisk Ultra II (4Gb): 372s(*) -> 8.58Mb/s
Patriot Memory Class 6 (8Gb): 517s -> 8.34Mb/s
Verbatim Class 6 (16Gb): 538s -> 8.01Mb/s
* as it's a 4Gb card I copied a file less, for a total of 3.1Gb
I did the test to see how my new 16Gb cards compared with my "old" cards (I can feel the difference between the Patriot and SanDisk Extreme card in my K20D).
I got two of the new Verbatim cards, and one of them fluctuated quite a bit: 519, 565, 960 and 689 seconds to complete the copy (all the other cards where consistent within a couple of seconds). I'll do further test of it later - it may be sick or something... or my PC was busy doing something...
The verbatim cards where pretty much the cheapest class 6 cards I could find. They are not going to be used for anything critical.
