my DIY camera bag

I saw a national geographic canvas bag online. I had a similar one I purchased from gap a year ago. I wanted to have a bag that wouldnt scream "expensive camera" inside so I took matters into my own hands. After making a quick stop to a fabric store for 1" thick foam and a yard of green fabric, I made my way to grandma's house and tried my hand at sewing.

here are the results,

Nice work. I recently found an insert for my own backpack, and it should arrive shortly. I had ben on the verge of doing the exact same thing you did, and might still do so at some point.

haha Gary. Actually the materials were pretty cheap. yard of cloth= like 5 dollars and about a 1/2 yard of foam for 5 dollars as well. Bag was like 15.

No, no, no, don't reveal your costs, just tell anybody that it's a custom bag and you'll sell it for $89.99.

I think the idea is to not make it look like a camera bag.

Excellent idea! I'm about to do something similar... The Computrekker is a great great bag but too big when you're not taking all your stuffs

Good looking setup!

I would like a similar setup but using the famous Jack Bauer bag as seen in 24 a couple of years ago but I never get around it

Pretty neat setup! I've been thinking about doing a similar thing. Right now, I'm scouring the Army Surplus stores in the area to see if I can find a Field Medical Bag, or an old Butt Pack. When I was in Nam' we got hold of those and made a "field expedient bag" to suit our individual needs. We carried tons of stuff in those and they worked great!
Each of the Combat Photographers sort of "customized" their bag for the specific equipment they tended to carry.
If I can find the bag, all I'll have to buy is the foam for inserts.
