No white ones for me?

The new ones are good for 1500 charge cycles (old ones were 1000) and hold their charge (75%) for 3 years (old ones were 1 year).

Rechargeable batteries typically have a "self-discharge" characteristic which gradually reduces charged energy over time. This is considered the downside of typical rechargeable batteries, as it renders them inconvenient since they are unusable immediately after purchase, requiring the batteries to be charged to start using them and recharged if they have been left on the shelf for a period of time. Since "eneloop" batteries have a low self-discharge rate, they can be pre-charged and usable immediately after purchase, like dry cell batteries. This new "eneloop" battery continues this tradition, and a fully-charged "eneloop" will be "ready for use off the shelf even after 3 years" of storage, according to Sanyo. By using SANYO?s original "super-lattice alloy" for negative electrode material and improvement of materials and structure, a fully-charged new eneloop battery can maintain "approximately 75% of charged power even after 3 years", ensuring that power is available when needed.

I actually wouldn't mind having my batteries in different colors, so I can more easily keep track of which sets to charge together. I currently mark them with a sharpie, but having the whole thing colored would be better.

We'll need 4 sets of 8 to make 8 sets of same-colored batteries

Can we see the point (j/k)

Panasonic acquired JVC
Panasonic acquired Sanyo just today
JVC might acquire Pentax soon

There is no reason if there will be nothing like K-x multi color Eneloop does!

I agree with MattDM, actually. You could get by with buying two packs, and just pair em up by color: it'd still be pretty easy to remember and tell your sets apart.

The way they're arranged in the picture actually would work. You'd have a set of four of each pink/purple yellow/orange, olive/black, blue/light blue. That'd make up power for your AA camera, grip/spares, flash, and flash backup.

Or you could buy one package and have a set that runs black-light blue and a set with the warmer colors.

At least the way I think, I'd pretty quickly come to associate the combinations as 'belonging together,'

Why don't they just make the batteries so they change colors as they discharge?

Hmm... changing black batteries on an AF540 in a low light situation... and you drop one. This is the reason I like the white.

The yellow on the other hand might be more visable.

Nice.

Or, one could find three friends, buy four packs....
