Vivitar 283 , Help!

Hello folks, i have this old old vivitar 283 Flash that I found stashed away. Still in great workng condition. Can anyone tell me if this flash is safe to use on my K20 D ? I was told that it might burn my camera electronics.

There was a similar thread not that long ago dealing with using an older Vivitar 283 flash on a DSLR. The same answers would apply to your situation as well.

Yep. I believe the short answer would generally be 'probably not.'

The only way to be sure, is to measure the flash voltage. Here is a link for tests done by others on various flashes,Photo Strobe Trigger Voltages

If your flash is one of the old ones, 190 volts, it could easily damage electronics.
If in doubt, test the voltage.
