Hello,

I have a K200d and would like to have a small hotshoe mount AF assist beam. I have seen the AF-240 and AF-330 are small(ish) and have a dedicated SB spotbeam AF assist that I hoped I could use for low light, available light shooting without spending too much ($40 on ebay for an AF-240 vs the $$$ for a 360 or 540 flash). I contacted Pentax support to find out if the SB mode would work on a K200d and they said they "doubt" it would work but couldn't give a definitive answer.

Do any owners out there know if the SB mode AF assist from these older flashes would function on a K200d?

I can't say for K200 and for the two flashes you are mentioning but I was trying K10D with AF400FTZ and it's AF beam worked. Though I didn't try it without firing the flash.
