HI Guys

can someone with greater knowledge than me let me know if this device

Timer Remote Cord for Pentax K20D K10D K200D K100D *ist - eBay (item 330346787168 end time Jan-18-10 21:20:30 PST)

will work with the K7 for doing continuous shooting (for star trails etc)

It mentions other pentax cameras but not the K7 - i am assuming the controls will be the same but can anyone confirm this will be the case

thanks

I think you'll find the same Pentax remote works with all DSLR models. It will be the same with the clone versions.

I don't think that you would need this as the K7 has already an intervalometer.
Works the same as this timer remote.
You will only need this for those cameras without an intervalometer.
Take a read of your K7 manual and get to know how to use the intervalometer function of the K7 camera.

But the intervalometer in the K20D & K-7 only goes to 99 shots. This ext. unit goes way past that.

i tried using the internal intervalometer and the problem i got was that if i was trying to do a 25 sec exposure and set the intervalometer to 26 seconds, for some strange reason which i cant workout the 25 sec exposure would be fine but then there is about a 10 -15 sec delay before it takes the next shot.
I dont beleive this is DFS as if i do it manually i can take the next shot immediatley after the 25 sec exposure has finished

if you have any ideas why - let me know

If I only had the K20 or the K7 then I would be happy to!
I only know about the specs on this two as I only have the K100D super.
Someone who knows about this would probably chime in.

Set it twice or thrice..then you'll get more?
I'm not actually sure if this is even possible as I don't have these cameras.

It should work as it has the same plug as I have on mine that I use on the K20 and K100. Also Pentax did NOT announce a new remote just for the K7, so it certainly appears that Pentax has continued with their current standard.

Even if you were to use the K7's internal intervalometer, this would be useful as a wired remote, so its multi-purpose, with some extended functionality.

I also think that this is the most inexpensive unit available for the Pentax (that includes the intervalometer capability).

I actually like this one better.

DealExtreme: $39.90 JJC TM-C LCD Timer Remote Shutter for Canon/Pentax/Contax/Samsung DSLR/SLR Cameras

From the photo you'll see it has an on/off switch that the other lacks. The unit is shorter but fatter than the other remote. Both operate pretty much the same, but this one is easier for me to read the LED display.

One on ebay for $5 less:
Timer Remote Cord for Pentax K-7 K20D K200D K10D K100D - eBay (item 190357628880 end time Jan-11-10 08:23:59 PST)

Thank you

This is much closer to what Pentax was offering before..an OEM timer.
It was being sold (Pentax OEM timer) on the marketplace but I don't know whether someone bought it or not.

that not necessary true. it seems that this intervalometer uses 3.5mm jack (as probably most of them). the thing is that 3.5mm does not fit into k7. maybe using an 2.5mm adapter would solve it - don't know.
have you received yours, did you try with any adapters?

None of them have 3.5 mm jacks.
