Help: Quick Release plate for Pentax K-x

I wonder anyone know is there a quick release plate available for new Pentax K-x? I had tried looking up Markins and Kirk and not able to find any plate listed.

Thanks

erm... don't quick-release plates attach to the tripod mount under the camera? If so, almost any plate will do. Tripod mounts are pretty much universal. Unless you mean something else...

you'll have to go with their generic quick release plates - neither have a K-x specific plate. I have a photo clam plate which is also generic - they make theirs with the same dovetail design and it has the added bonus of having strap lugs as well as being slightly cheaper than either the Markins or Kirk offerings.

Thanks. I had done some experimenting and discovered the old Markins plate PG-30U from my Canon 400D is able to fit quite nicely on K-x, however, I have to mount the curve edge along the LCD edge instead of previously at the lens mount side when it was mounted on Canon 400D.

That is good to know! It wouldn't surprise me if alot of the 'camera-specific' plates made by RRS or Markins would work on alot of camera bodies - its not as if the base plate of cameras are wildly different from camera to camera.

I am assuming you are wanting a Arca-Swiss compatible plate with some sort of lip or stop to prevent twisting? There are a number of manufacturers that make generic versions that work with many different bodies. I use this one from Giottos on my K10D:

The red tabs flip up to engage the camera body.

I'm sure a camera specific model will be out eventually (well, almost sure - the K-X seems to be selling well)... Another universal plate, which I haven't tried, but which looks good and comes from a company with a stellar rep. is the Wimberly P-5. Nice 'cause it has a threaded hole built into the plate for "Non-quick-release Applications". Markins also makes a similar plate.
