Remote for K20D and K-x

This has been posted before, I'm sure, but does anyone know what Canon (or other brand) electronic remote works with these cameras? I ask, because when I had an *ist D before, I had one and it was a LOT cheaper than the one from Pentax!
Thanks for your response!
Rob

But what kind of remote are you referring to? IR? Wired? RF?

My RF remote for my K-7 cost $30, and there are many for $20 or less. Canon ones work fine, as long as they include the right plug end (K-x does not support this)

The Pentax IR Remote F costs very little. I just bought one for $10 from Pentaman on the marketplace of this very forum. He frequently has them for sale (brand new, in original box). Sometimes for less than $10, always includes shipping within NA.

I recently bought a wired remote on eBay for $6.95. Works great on my K-7, has focus and lock positions. The K-x does not support wired remotes, though.

If they are the third party remotes that say "universal" or has the P,C, S,N buttons, then they will work fine with all the cameras (Pentax, Canon, Sony, Nikon).

Might want to consider your app,
IR is very reliable, not prone to interferrence
but is somewhat directional and pretty much requires line of sight.
can use small piece of foil at sensor for more flexibility.

RF can be influenced by other RF noise, though much improved recently.
omnidirectional in use and does not require line of sight,on average
longer range than IR.
RF Requires two components...Transmitter and reciever/output interface
RF somewhat costlier than IR

These guys can offer you a wealth of information in regards to either of
these systems, whats available and so on. threw this up for general info.

but RF won't work with the K-x since it requires the receiver to plug into a remote shutter cable jack (that the K-x lacks).

Personally, with craploads of wireless stuff around my house, I have no interference problems whatsoever with an RF remote. Some have had issues, but remotes with a switchable channel tend to resolve the problem quickly.

Hey Gore,
I only have K20,dont really know capilbilities of other DSLR bodies,
ability to multiplex channels is why RF is much improved.
