Starblitz 1000 Auto Macro-Lite x-sync problem

Hello!

I have just got a Starblitz 1000 Auto Macro-Lite macro ring flash. It seems to be working perfectly (checked it with Zenit ES) but I cannot get it to work on my Pentax K7. I have connected the supplied sync cord to flash's "Sync." socket and the other end to x-sync socket on my camera. When I take a picture, the external flash does not fire. I tried both X-sync camera mode, manual mode with both 1.2s, 1/20s, 1/125s, 1/800s - nothing worked.

Since I do not have any experience with using flash (and x-sync cord) I think I might have made a simple mistake. The problem is - I have no idea, what I am doing wrong.

Could you offer any tips / suggestions?

Thank you in advance!
