Seeking for Suggestion of Tripod, sorry, 6 feet, I mean, shame

I am seeking for a tripod, since I am a beginner, I don't wanna pay a lot on it.
I use K-x, anybody has recommendation?

It should have a 6 inch height in maximum, and as light as possible at a reasonable price which I can afford (less than $14).

Thanks.
Henry

6 inch, eh? What purpose would you want to be using this for? (And for how big a lens, just the kit?)

There's a lot of little options out there, most of them are going to be good for some things, less for others. Bean bags are nice for many purposes, for instance. Very simple stands for others, etc. Fancy+cheap usually=fail.

Gorillpod

For anything that short, maybe the best bet is to go with Joby gorillapod or similar product from Best Buy.

I agree - buy a 'pod'. The SLR size pod will work well for you. Keep mine in my bag for the just in case moments.

a few stacked books can easily come up to 6"... but they usually cost more than $14.

a styrofoam block? I guess you can find those for free in the trash can.

you want a 6 foot tripod for $14 or less?

I suppose you could tie some twigs together

At that price, they all suck, so feel free to buy whatever crap Amazon.com spews forth.

I have this thing's bigger brother. It's terrible, but it works. Considering how much I paid for it, it exceeds expectations. It's not $14, but it's still dirt cheap:

In reality, you are going to need to spend quite a bit more for something somewhat stable. My suggestion would be this - although considerably higher than your asking price. I bought one of these used for around $50 off craigslist. Not the best looking or most portable (you're not going to hike with it), but very stable for the money. Look for something older and used - you might come up with something more reasonable.

Especially if you want it stable enough for panoramas, you'll have a very hard time finding anything for fifteen dollars. Exchange rates and all. You might get lucky on Ebay (tripods are expensive to ship, though,) or at a yard sale.

Back when VHS camcorders were in use by home video hobbyists, though, there were made a number of rather big and clunky tripods for them: they used to appear at yard sales and flea markets (and even curbsides) fairly often, a number of years ago. It's possible in time you might find one. Now that video cameras are palm-sized, there isn't so much call for the big things among consumers: as the things got smaller, people tended to consider the big cheap tripods unnecessary and in the way.

It'd just be a matter of luck, though. It's possible something might turn up on Craigslist, though, or someone here might happen to have something they don't need.

You'll probably end up spending a fair bit more, though, in all honesty, at least if you want it soon. If you get a choice, remember that simple and heavy is best for your photos, if you're going cheap.

I'm guessing you meant 140 dollars US. If that is the case, the Manfrotto tripods in Aluminum should be in that ball park. For a bit more, you can get a standard model of the Feisol ( around 200 I think). A place to also look is BH's Used Store. They sometimes have discontinued or demo models at a fair price.

Seems crazy, but if you keep reading the thread, he specifies that he wants one "within $15".

Maybe WalMart has some at that price...
