AF 360 & 540 - Disabling the AF lamp?

Is there any way to disable the AF assist lamp on the AF 360 or AF540 in favor of the K7's on board lamp? I have noticed that my K7 focuses better using the onboard AF assist lamp than the one on either external flash. The onboard lamp appears quite a bit brighter compared to the one built into either flash. Neither manual mentions anything about this, so I am inclined to believe that it cannot be done.

I would like that too, but have not discovered any way of doing it.
