hope someone can steer me in the right direction here.

I was given a Flash - Sigma EF-500 ST and am trying to use it with the K7.
Now my understanding was that set the Flash to TTL and the camera should be able to control the output from the flash

What happens though is the flash reacts to the focal length changing on the camera, however the TTL output just blows full forces and almost completely washes out the photo.

The best i can get is setting is to ML and it is usable but this seems to produce a slightly dim photo.

Am i wrong in assuming i should be able to use this flash with the K-7??

i've read that some of the 'older' sigma 500's need a free firmware update (via sigma repair) to fully work with the K-7 and K-x. Do you have the ST DG or the ST Super?

the only markings on the flash are on one side Sigma EF-500 ST and on the other (under the selection switch) Electronic Flash EF-500 ST (PA)

so i can say its definately not the DG.

I would be a little surprised if you could even do a firmware upgrade - does anyone else know if this is the case
