My new tripod

I just got this tripod and love it so I thought I'd share it with everyone. Sorry if this model has been covered already.

The tripod was everything I was looking for, lightweight, durable, ball-head, smooth all around

And even things I wasn't looking for, 2 ball point levelers, and a compass.

All for $39.99

If you are looking for an entry level tripod you cannot go wrong with this one

Thats a really good deal for what looks like a very nice tripod. What camera are you using with it?

I must agree...I received my new Dolica last week. Have been shooting with it ever since on my K-7 w/Tamron 18-200. Solid as a rock. It is rated to hold 13.2 lbs. I thought I had been 'upgraded' when I first pulled it out of the box!

I would HIGHLY recommend this set of sticks for anyone!!

How well does the camera mount to the tripod? I've only ever owned cheaper tripods and the fit is a bit "loose" and makes me afraid of shooting vertical with it. I may be tempted to buy this now since I can't find the lens I wanted used any more.

Quick release plate attaches securely. Where the plate attaches to the camera is spring loaded- it pops the release lever out and into locked position- verifying that it is securely attached. Holds my K-7 w/18-200 zoom in every position I've tried. 90 degree vertical? No problem!
Again, I HIGHLY recommend this tripod...

Thanks for replying quick...they also have a carbon fiber version for about $60 more, but I think that this one will be good enough for the amount I will use it.

I've read complaints about the shape of the levers and tighteners (on the CF model) and that they are hard to grip. If you look at a photo, the knobs on the CF version are all rounded, whereas those on the cheaper alum. version are longer and thinner and easier to grip.

Probably just personal preference!

I'm using it with a Kx and the heaviest lens I have is a tamron 70-300mm and it feels VERY sturdy.

The connector plate is metal and there is zero budge when it is secure

Yes the ball head is removable.

Side note: There is one tightening knob for complete vertical and horizontal movement. To me this is a good and bad thing because you can loosen, adjust re-tighten very quickly but if you have a pan head you can have it locked in place but still pan left and right. With a ball head you do not have that option, you have to loosen the knob.

Thank you sir! Pretty sure I am buying this first thing in the morning.

Hrm, that may be the answer of the moment for everyone presently asking "How do I cheap Tripod!"

I would tend to presume the QR clamp would be replaceable if someone desired later? Or one could swap heads.

This tripod is has actually been reviewed on the tripod reviews on top of this thread.
I myself am happy with it..as a lot of people are.
I've been also thinking of changing out the head, but it has served me well still, so I'm still putting it off (buying a replacement head).
I would want to get one of those "action grips" but never really got to buying one also.
