Wouldn't those knobs be lens-specific, rather than camera/body specific? I've wondered about the same, but I bet such a pro-rig is really priced professionally as well, so they'd be beyond my reach anyway.

Best to jury-rig it yourself :-)

That's a follow focus, it's not specific to anything, and it's really meant for filmmaking because it really helps with adjusting focus while shooting a scene. they can be pricey, the cheapest one is on Indifocus' website (indiSYSTEM - indiFOCUSzoom) for $99 most others go $200 and up. Real rip off, but it's a handy tool.

If my DSLR shot video I would consider making my own. With a bit of thought and basic woodworking tools it shouldn't be too difficult to make something serviceable for amateur use. Actually, I wonder if I could make one out of Lego (eyeing the large bag of lego Technic gears and shafts sitting across the room from me...). I have several Lego motorcycles with transmissions configured to do almost exactly the same thing as a set of follow focus gears.

I'm fairly certain there are already some follow focus DIY HOWTOs on Instructables.

Otherwise, googling "DIY follow focus" will probably net some useful results.
