Bump for a stellar manual lens. If I didn’t have one this would already be mine. One of the three K fast medium telephotos (with 85/1.8 and 120/2.8). K-mount FF users especially take note.

How does this compare with the SMC 100mm 2.8 K-mount?

Im not sure what lens you are referring to ? There is no 100mm SMC-K 100mm 2.8 lens ? If its the SMC-A 100mm 2.8 lens you are wanting a comparison ? This one supposedly exceeds it in sharpness , but gets docked rating points because of lack of an "A" setting...….some just cant deal with that.
I own most of the SMC-K series for a reason.....sharpness and rendering somewhat being slightly higher across the board than alot of the "A" lenses.
A lot is subjective , and pixel peeking , and the rest simply doesn't matter.

I cant really comment as Ive never used the 100mm M lens as comparison. Ratings wise I would say its probably a near draw , but then again the M lens has mixed reviews. Who knows......lol.
PS.....when you use the 100mm 2.8 M lens......does it remind you of the 85mm lenses in subject isolation and bokeh ?
This one Im selling...... DOES !

Im sure you read it.....I love this lens for Portraits of my K-1 !
So do the Senior Ladies around here in Sun City as f2.8 is a bit softer and less revealing , much like the 85mm soft focus , just to a lesser degree.

I have both the M100/2.8 and the K105/2.8.

I prefer the K105/2.8 optically and it also has a better minimum aperture. The only thing the M100/2.8 "might" be preferred over the K105/2.8, is the lenses smaller size.

Me too !You know much more than I do with the manual lenses. I guess there isn't many that know just how good a lens it is due to the somewhat rarity ? I bought it from KEH for a bit more than Im asking here.....lol

I cannot continue to be a LBA collector any longer......Im wanting to get out and Shoot a lot more than Im doing !
