Tamron Adaptall II 400mm f4 w/ KA mount *Price Drop*

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Tamron Adaptall II 400mm f4 w/ KA mount

Asking Price
865.00 USD

Item Location
Florida (United States)

Item Description
I know someday I will regret selling this, but I can't keep them all.

Prefer to sell outright, but open to certain trades listed near bottom of this advertisement.

The lens is in excellent condition though there is some external carry rash around the edges and some paint loss. (see pics)

Optics are clean and clear, no fungus or haze. Aperture functions as it should.

The included kit consist of :
Lens w/ PK\A Tamron Adaptall mount that has worked fine for me, with the caveat that this is a heavy lens, and you should know to use the tripod mount, so as not to put excessive strain on the Adaptall II mount.
Rear Filter holder w/stock UV 43mm filter
Optech soft front lens cap
Rear cap
Tamron hood
Tamron Soft Case

This lens is on par with my DA*300mm for sharpness, and that is saying a lot. Some sample shots, some are heavily cropped below. I can hand hold this lens, but my arms are happier on a monopod, heh heh. I will ship in the soft bag, with bubble wrap, and probably double box as well, so shipping & Insurance won’t be a small thing… but is included in the price already.

I'm including several pic's I took with it below, and the pictures of the lens itself may show at the bottom because I used the embedded image upload for those on the forum instead of Flickr.

Potential Trade options could include:
FA85mm 1.4 (straight swap?)
FA77mm 1.8 (plus additional ~$300 to me, or maybe a second item of interest, hit me up?)

Handheld ƒ/8.0 400.0 mm 1/500 iso100

Handheld ƒ/8.0 400.0 mm 1/1000 iso100

Handheld, tiny crop of far away action ƒ/8.0 400.0 mm 1/2000 iso400

Monopod cropped ƒ/8.0 400.0 mm 1/1500 iso100

Handheld ƒ/8.0 400.0 mm 1/1000 iso100

Handheld ƒ/9.5 400.0 mm 1/1500 iso100

Haven't seen one of these for sale for a long while. Your pictures looked amazingly sharp.

Great lens. I use mine on both my K-3 and Nikon 300s bodies. Very multi-functional. I see that you also have the original canvas carrier. This is a hard to get item. Nice.

Thanks Steve, yes, it is a pretty cool piece of kit, I've been the lucky custodian of this gem, time for the next owner to enjoy it.

Not a clue... but I did find this in the review section: Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 400mm f/4 LD IF (65B) Lens Reviews - Tamron Adaptall Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

"Accepts SP 2X tele-converter #01F and SP 1.4X tele-converter #140F. Note: TC's are reviewed in miscellaneous lenses - TC's.

WPRESTO has done a careful test chart comparison of this lens with DA 300mm f4, DA 150-450mm, DA*60-250mm, and with tc's, starting post 18877 in 300mm lens club.

Norm,
I have used it on the Tamron SP 300 mm 2.8 with great success. I will try it out on the 400 mm.

I had to chuckle when I saw your comment, because even though I couldn't remember (older photo) the first thing I thought was "yeah, probably a cow poop or two so as not to gross out the city folk"

But, at any rate, I dug up the original JPG and found to my surprise, that pic is heavily cropped, attesting further to the resolving power of this thing and the K-1 sensor croppability. So, here is the full image, downsized a little for viewing:

It may be a little heat mirage too... it was HOT summer day over damp morning dew burning off the grass, so the bokeh is a pretty interesting in some areas.
Hope that helps,
Eric

I have a Like New MiJ FA 77mm I may be interested in trading. The only thing "wrong" with it is that I lost the front lens cap, so I put an old slip-on Miranda lens cap on it. Let me know via DM if you're interested & at what price! Thanks.
