The pleated bellows is in excellent condition; one of the strong features of the
Soligor bellows is that when the bellows is collapsed the bellows itself is protected.
The lower Multiflex Focus Track is a separate accessory and is not always available with the bellows. In this case the focus rail is a “
Contax” branded one (made by Soligor) and is in “like new” condition. Soligor bellows units were made to fit Canon, Nikon and M42 Mounts. The units also were “branded”, for instance the
Konica Auto Bellows 3 AR, and for others; Contax, Yashica, Minolta, Fujica, Miranda, and Mamiya/Sekor.
This bellows unit is originally a Konica Flange mount and has been fitted with a
Photodiox Pro AR to PK camera mount adaptor, and a
Konica/Praktica Lens Adaptor 2 AR (M42). This allows the attachment of a Pentax DSLR with sufficient clearance from the rear standard and allows the use of screw mount lenses of which there are many excellent ones available. Obviously Konica lenses can also be used and the Konica/Minolta 50mm Macro lens is an excellent performer. The Pentax SMC Super Macro-Takumar 50mm F4.0 (M42) is rated 9.9 out of 10 for sharpness and would be my choice.
The
Soligor Multiflex Auto Bellows is an excellent bellows in that it is robust with excellent build quality comparable to the
Asahi Pentax Auto Bellows, which says a lot. This Bellows has a two piece “X” rail, but I would more accurately describe it as two “V” rails jointed together. They are aligned with two locator pins on the front and use a single ¼-20 screw at the rear to hold them together.
The two piece rail system is very versatile in that the bottom rail component can be removed quickly w/o tools, and replaced by an 8” Arca-Swiss quick release rail (Hejnar Photo), as illustrated with a
Pentax K-1 Mk.II and an
SMC Bellows-Takumar 100mm F4 lens. This lowers the profile and makes it easy to mount on multi-directional micro-adjusting focus rails using QR, or on automatic rails such as the Cognisys Stack Shot with a quick release.
The Macro Stand is a high quality stand, easily attached w/o tools, with a rotatable stage and is an excellent additional accessory that allows vertical (or horizontal) macro with a solid or illuminated stage for smaller objects such as insects, coins, stamps, mineral samples etc. I believe this is far superior to the
Asahi Pentax Macrophoto Stand which is nearly impossible to find used.
