Not much info available on this lens. I gather it's MF?

Hi Ash,

I am quoting from a Sigma catalogue:- It is suitable for both full frame, film and APSC sensors. Weight is 3.150 kg! Minimum focusing distance of 4.00 metres.

AF is not supported on Pentax cameras if the body does not support Hyper - Sonic Motor (HSM)!

Hope this is of some assistance.

If you require further information that is in the catalogue let me know!

The catalogue is 03,2009.

Regards.

This is obviously not the latest version of the Sigma 500mm F/4.5 and doesn't appear to be an autofocusing lens, definitely not an HSM lens.

You can find 2 reviews here: Sigma 500mm F4.5 APO Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

I'm using mine since quite some time now and I'm very happy with it.
Here's an example with the k3

and here with the K1

Does it have a hood? Or is it a permanently attached slide-out? (If so, can we see a pic with it out?) How about a tripod foot? (Not visible.) More pics, more details if possible...

Yes it is the older version of the lens. It is completely manual focus. The lens hood is perminately attached and it slides out. As far as I can tell it is the lens that is in the data base listing for $1200 Average. I have the 150 to 450mm Pentax now, so I didn’t use this lens much. Only on one trip to Yellowstone. It does have a tripod foot.

It doesn't support Pentax AF because it's not an auto focus lens. It's manual focus.
