Re your findings concerning the Sigma 10-20mm super-wide lens, insofar that:

You have to be square to your subject and keep stuff away from the edges or you'll get weird warped images.

I'm thoroughly convinced that this optic is capable of revolutionising the manner in which you first visualise and then compose images, enabling you to capture some truly stunning photos along the way. But, and it's a pretty Big BUT, once you start to truly understand the capabilities of Sigma's 10-20mm rectilinear lens and are able to master it's slight limitations, you can REALLY let your creative senses flow and then start to have lots of fun.....

OK, there are a bunch of Sigma 10-20 fans here, and no doubt it's a great lens. I have the Pentax DA 12-24 and just love it. Here is the link to the LBA post I made on it this last winter. I don't think you can go wrong with either lens, but I wouldn't trade my 12-24 for the Sigma. Take a look at these shots and tell me what you think:
