Drying its wings after a rain, just outside my front door. It moved before I went back to take this shot for ID, but I'm quite sure it's the same specimen:




I am guessing Ectropis crepuscularia but I am no lepidopterist and that is just a guess based on looking at photos. Range and size match (this one was 40mm across).

Close-up is 68 shots stacked in Zerene Stacker. K28/3.5 reversed on bellows, about 4:1 magnification. ID shot is Sigma 70/2.8 macro.

I was focused on the leaf,in a split second it moved.The focus is a tad off but I still like the shot.Taken with an SMC tak 135 2.5
