I don't have the opportunity to see a Luna Moth very often, once a year if I'm lucky. I was lucky enough to notice this one in the bushes at the end of my driveway as I parked one night. I had to leave my car lights on to have any chance of seeing him, much less taking a picture of him. I set the ISO at 12800 and hoped for the best. After some heavy handed editing this is what I ended up with--I still can't get over how good the high iso capabilities of the modern pentax cameras are. K70 with tam 90.

I think it's a polyphemus moth. Looks like it has some wing damage...........

A moth I think

Never really studied moths or butterflies so not sure what this guy is. I was about 10 feet away so this was cropped down a fair amount and was resampled to slightly smaller than a 100% crop.

Camera: K-3
Lens: Sigma 300mm APO f/4
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/320
Aperture: F/8
