Thematic Butterflies and Moths

I had a lovely hike this morning. I caught these butterflies teasing each other despite there being more blooms available than they could possibly drink. I guess they all want the best flower.

I watched the fritillary on the right come in fast, and I knew it was going to spoil my shot (I was creeping up on the giant swallowtail), so I decided to try to catch them in the air. Giant swallowtails have been very few and far between here this year.

The swallowtail gave chase! I wasn't using a high enough shutter speed for this, but I like the suggestion of motion in it. I got a couple of nice shots of fritillaries later, too.

A Palamedes Swallowtail from today, this summer has seemed like I only see butterflies if I don't have a camera, maybe the start of more photo opportunities.
