baro-nite - When wet they almost are translucent. Not quite, but they often do look almost translucent when wet.

RacerX - Yes they kind of do. And since that's a flower 1/4 inch across, gives you an idea how small those droplets are...the whole flower could hide behind a pencil eraser...

Shooz - That looks a lot like Henbit going by the leaves, winter bloomer. Color is off though, I've never seen one that color, they always look like this one.

Leaves and flower markings look about right though...

This one is straight out of camera, a bit of a departure from my usual hand-processed photos.

I'll look for more of them this year. If the snow ever melts.

Yep might nice shot of a Henbit...I don't know of a macro rig that gets f52 aperture so I think he cheated and stacked it for that much depth of field...

Fooled me then I thought that was more depth of field than f16 would do for a macro. I'm not sure if I've been able to get that kind of performance at f16 but I'd have to go look. I shoot a lot of f16 when I use a flash to keep the shots from being overexposed. Even at 1/16 power the flash can overexpose at f11 and 100 ISO. I don't remember my settings on the Henbit above, but probably f11 or f16and I think that was natural daylight. Need to try some more soon, things are popping open around here. Gotta get that pulled back muscle back in decent shape first though...

Tim, I think that second one is Hairy Bitter Cress (Cardamine hirsuta); at any rate I'm pretty sure it's some kind of cress. Very common weed and I decided to have a closer look at it:

The flower is around 3-4mm across; this was shot at around 4.3x magnification (it is a focus stack of 55 shots, shot indoors).
