the whole package

the whole package

shows the complete cycle:

closed buds, starting to open, completely open and down in the left corner, completely spent

cropped picture: couldn't find a bee to pose for scale, I hope the ant is acceptable

no idea of what type of flower/plant, any help out there???

bonus points to Baro-nite: looks like butterfly milkweed is the winner

found at the Topeka Zoological Park

Something in the milkweed family. Start with butterfly weed.

Remember when posting flowers here what Paleo Pete wants posted here:

From the first page where he started this thread:
QuoteQuote:
So I thought it might be interesting to start a thread here devoted to tiny flowers. I wanted to keep it smaller than pencil eraser size, but that would probably limit the scope of the thread a lot, so let's make it no larger than dime size, just over 1/2 inch.

I believe the purple ones fit. We have some of that plant in our yard and I can attest they are very small, dime size at least.

And the message wasn't just for you.
