PP Challenge #31 Winners

Jmshrei – sepia interpretation. Very nice balancing act of reduced tones and increase contrast.

EricT – another sepia tone. Less is more. The silhouettes of the of the midrange trees and more distant bridge along with vertical crop add interest.

Graham V - extreme crop. Concentration on one element, the swirling river and accenting it with the blue duotone is a study in texture.

Ramseybuckeye – darker side. Moody textures and shift of color palette evokes a mood of imminent danger.

Dandog – layers. Use of dodging and burning along with selective color changes changes a somber mood to a feeling of hopeful anticipation.

Ozlizard – addition and rule of thirds. Submerging the trees and skies in shadow and adding a bright focal point at just the right place adds a whole new perspective.

Atupdate – walking on water. The mirror image merge creates a pleasing image for all but the motorists on the bridge. They just keep ending up on the same shore they left from.

Tamia – hand. Negative treatment with monotone base gives a feeling reminiscent of the old velvet paintings of the 70's. Did I really miss the drowning person clutching for help?

Now for the subjective part of this exercise.

3rd place – Dandog. I really like the feeling of a very old pen and ink drawing.

2nd place – Tamia. You kept the elements and created a whole new world.

1st place – Graham V. Concentration on just one element and yet it draws you into the picture.

Well Graham, you've got the next one. To make things easier I include the posting information below:

But at least they never have to look back.

Thanks everyone.
Apologies for the delay in replying, I've just got back from holiday.

Will post a new challenge ASAP, possibly one from the holiday in Scotland.
