From our garden path a little while back, just before I got my K-x, hence why it is taken with a 3.2Mp phone camera (on the Nokia 5530 which isn't renowned for its camera). So all in all, I don't think it's that bad.

LordMantir - Nice shot. I like the composition of it. It's great they were growing on either side of the board, that just added to it.

Eccs19, you're right that the ones I shot being shaggy manes, Coprinus comatas. Somewhere along the line I began calling them inky caps, though that's the proper popular name for its relative, the Coprinus atramentarius. Thanks for pointing this out to me.

I've not eaten the shaggy manes, because I'm a wimp about collecting wild mushrooms. I see in my guidebooks that it's quite delicious, though. I'll check to see if any are there today. I also read that the Coprinus atramentarius can give you quite nasty scare if you eat it within some hours of drinking anything alcoholic.

kokkieblanda - Great shot. Shallow DOF, but it works great with this shot. BTW, welcome to the forum!

I have made many miserable attempts, but I finally have some contributions for this thread. I know nothing about fungus so I have no idea what these characters are!

jmschrei - Well worth the wait. Especially like the second one.
ramseybuckeye - Is that first one a fungus growing on a fungus? Second one is cool. One is such a lonely number.

pontusadefjord - That's a cool looking mushroom. Nicely captured details. Nice coloring on it also.

Thanks eccs, I've read a lot about the lens and have been trying to get one and finally got one with a camera from Goodwill auctions. Some of these have been selling for over $100 on Ebay, probably averaing 70-80 though, I know I've been trying to get one for a couple of months. Anyway I've read that some people like it better than the Takumars. I have a Super Takumar 50/1.4 and with some tests I did they are very close, but I think the Takumar is sharper at wide apertures.
