Here's a new one that's sprouted on the same log as an earlier one of mine (seen in the foreground bokeh). I find it interesting that very different types show up close together, I guess the spores being blown in on the wind from all around.

jheu02 - I love the angle you shot this from. You get to see it from a different perspective. Nicely done as usual.

I am sorry gentlemen, was offline for 2 days out there
well, that pic was there at least 1 day after my post, think the link got disabled by admin
here is the link again, I am not going to insert it here, just paste
http://masters.galleries.dpreview.com.s3.amazonaws.com/582024.jpg?AWSAccessK...J9y85mYr9xU%3d
hope it will stay active

for nature conscious people - it is a pic of species Hericium erinaceus, quite rare in nature and on the Red list, picture was taken in the Badin forest National Reserve in Slovakia

Went for a lunchtime hike in our local forest park to test out a new DA 15mm Ltd., but ended up taking half the time shooting fungi. Our Pacific Northwest soggy season has begun and for the past few weeks we've had nice fungi output.

I wish I knew the names of these but they are fun to shoot.

Miguel - Nice shots. That first one is really an interesting looking one. Second one reminds me of a snake, peeling it's skin.

Kid, That's not a Shroom, It's a Space Station

Found a couple while blowing leaves today. This puffball reminded me of a certain movie prop.... The second was a little cap, don't know how it survived the force of the wind, it was only about 1 to 1 1/2" tall, the cap being a little larger than an eraser. Both shot with an XR Rikenon 50/2.0 on tubes (21mm for the puffball, 21+31mm for the little guy).

jheu02 - Nice set as usual. I'd be interested to see that first one in color. Myself, I'm not a huge B&W fan, so hence the curiosity.

Thank you eccs19 for your kind words. I like your metaphor for the second fungus.

This dead fallen tree is covered with fungi, it really stood out in the woods:

Here you go on the color, plus a couple from today. All of today's are the same type, but different shrooms. They look a bit like oysters to me, and the 2nd looks a bit like an octopus. The cap is almost silvery, pearl looking. Today's were taken with an Auto Chinon Multi-Coated 1:1.4 50mm at f/11 (1st, 31mm tube) and f/16 (2nd, 3rd, 21mm tube).

Small parasol mushroom I spotted in the yard a few weeks ago in September, finally remembered to upload it...I don't remember its name and don't have my book with me. Shot with the A series 50mm.

Large puffball found yesterday about 20 miles from here, I guess they got a little rain. it doesn't take much. This puffball is about the size of a softball or a bit larger, edible and very good. I've cooked them several times. This was taken with the Rokinon 75-300.

Had another different large one from yesterday too, I guess it didn't get transferred to the USB drive, I'll have to look for it again later.

What a lovely variety, everyone. That puffball as a texture unlike any I've seen here, Pete. Usually the large ones are relatively smooth and with a pale color. I've photographed quite a few fungi in the last 2-3 weeks, but haven't processed them yet. Surprisingly, many seemed to pop up when the temperatures were near freezing. Here are tiny jelly fungi:
