I couldn't help but think of the scene from The Holy Grail at the cave with the killer rabbit. "1, 2, 5...3 sir, 3..."

I've kicked it around a bit but I'll join in if it isn't too late.

It's been a struggle to get through the September challenge and I considered passing. Getting something every day has been the challenge, not using a single lens. I do have to admit that I'm enjoying it some and I found myself planning my shots for the upcoming week as I have been running the rat race this weekend.

I think I have to bow out of next month's challenge. I am getting behind in homework and need to focus my efforts more on the last push to finish school moreso than I photography right now.
Sorry folks but maybe I will catch up with you all in the next months challenge.
Will still do the draw for partners if you like. And I will be around to cheer everyone on.
So unfortunately I have removed my name from th list.

Since casil403 has bowed out, [and yes, school is more important] one easy way to do the partership part is to do it in the order of joining the above list. For example stillshunter with uceemebug, mdf with axl etc. If by the end of the week, it turns out there is an odd number of people e.g if there are 15 members then the last 3 can be partnered together...

Sorry guys, but I decided to pass on October challenge. My creativity is on the low and I'm not sure I would be able to contribute with any meaningful stuff. Looks like I need a break. Here's the amended list (I took off uccemburg too as he bailed out - read in SiS challenge thread):

stillshunter
mdf
photolady
samski_1
NaClH2O
Wedgetail
psychdoc
Jimbow007
Icywarm
Bramela
Duh_Vinci

I've decided to withdraw also. I do not have a vehicle and no way to just go when I want to go shooting.
Here is the new list:

Oh boy, this list is getting thinner and thinner But indeed, all for the right reasons!

Axl - I hear you! It is almost the end of this month's challenge, and my creativity is running really running dry at this point...

What appeals me to this challenge, there will be only 5 weeks and only 1 photo per week. To my little mind, I see it as a benefit. We will have entire week to work on the theme in terms of preparation, be it a search of the subject, execution of the photo, what have you, and I believe that will give us a much better chance to create a photo by the end of the week, instead of just capturing the subject...

List of lenses - if you haven't updated your list, this maybe a good time, can be found under "Manage Account"- "Your Profile" - "Edit Your Details"

Look forward to October, but for now - enjoy what we have for September!

Regards,
D

I'm still in and I made sure my list of lenses are up to date.

I'm hoping this will help me with my creativity again. I'm on day 90 of my 365 Project and I'm running out of ideas.

October Challenge

It seems to be that there are 2 aspects that must be considered for the October challenge.
1. Maintaining contact with the full group
2. Working with the partner
3. Alternative if partner is late/busy/drops out

With this in mind this is one way to do it. [I have tried to incorporate some of the ideas previously mentioned].
-Post at least 1 picture in each category listed below per week in the Coupled in October album.
-Cannot use a lens if you purchased it after Sep 1 2010!!!!!!

Week of Friday Oct 1st – Sunday October 10th
1. Group Challenge: Long Exposure Challenge: longer than 15seconds
2. Partner Challenge: Subject and lens TBD by partner
Alternate challenge if partner missing: Moon: shoot a picture to include the moon.

Week of Monday Oct 11th –Sunday October 17th
1. Group Challenge: Interpret the title ‘The Road Less Travelled’
2. Partner Challenge: Subject and lens TBD by partner
Alternate challenge if partner missing: Bokeh: make your best bokeh

Week of Monday Oct 18th - Sunday October 24th
1. Group Challenge: Freeze Action: take a sharp picture of fast moving subject
2. Partner Challenge: Subject and lens TBD by partner
Alternate challenge if partner missing: F22 take a picture at f22 or higher

Week of Monday Oct 25th- Saturday October 30th
1. Group Challenge: Interpret the title: ‘Rhythm of my heart’
2. Partner Challenge: Subject and lens TBD by partner
Alternate challenge if partner missing: Curves

When naming pictures include the challenge so that people know what category a picture is in. Eg: Long exposure, Moon, Bokeh etc.

Sunday October 31st :
Discuss challenge.

My final recommendation is this. Since we don’t have much time and there is no easy way to get a consensus, we should let Axl make the final decision, since he started the post in CiO. Sorry Axl!
Ok is this the format we are going to go with it has my vote

Guess there is no major obstacle to using the previously posted items, that was requoted as the basis for Coupled in October. The pairs would be:

stillshunter
mdf

samski_1
NaClH2O

Wedgetail
psychdoc

Jimbow007
Icywarm

Bramela
Duh_Vinci
Reeftool

Guess this is the final list? It is not an even number so the last ones are a 3-pair...We have another day for anyone else to pull out/join/return...

I have a few things developing around home in the way of maintainence and repair which may put a damper on my ability to complete the October challenge. Winter is approaching and I have a chimney repair along with other things that have to be done and the weather is not cooperating so I will pull out now rather than not being able to complete the challenge halfway through which would cause a problem with a partner completing his challenge. Sorry guys, I had hoped to be able to do it. Maybe next month.

Whoa I'm glad I stumbled on this thread late. Sounds like it was quite the administrative nightmare....or, more pointedly, sounds like the work I do every weekday So it's to everyone's benefit that I missed out on the thread.....because as a bureaucrat by trade I'd have only complicated.....three-fold!

The action items I'm taking away:
1. Created Coupled in October folder
2. PM my partner

....too easy!

Bottom Line: whatever the challenge I'm in....and thanks for partnering me with mdf...GOLD!!! Looking forward to working with you mate!...and seeing the collective outcomes.

So to get it right psychodoc's list is the consensus.

P.S., a shame to have lost some stayers such as Axl, Lisa, Uccembug, reeftool, etc. Let's be sure to keep in touch....

Thanks stillshunter, too kind as usual, my pleasure indeed.
I've just finished entering my profile details with the few lenses I own (I've left out two very bad ones i just never use).
