Up above (post #1620) there's a post of blue-on-white tiles done by children. Here's one of the official signs to show how they are done, multiple blue-on white tiles, the images under the glaze for durability, which commonly commemorate an historic event or identify an historic building etc. The text is almost always in both Portuguese and English.
