Detail of a fan woven from grass/reeds. Two things struck me about this object:1) the tightness and complexity of the weaving; and 2) the time required to make it.

How many interesting images would be denied to us if paint did not fade & peel, wood did not weather, and iron did not rust? I really like the contrasting colors and textures in LarsW's image posted above

HDR tends to flatten contrast and soften or desaturate colors, but it works here.
