texture and aged

I was out at the Topeka Zoological Garden trying out a new combination: K 3 + Pentax 16 - 85 mm zoom + focal 2x mc converter. (I just bought the used converter for $9)

the converter appears to have full contacts except for auto focus so I have to focus manually (with my eyes that can be a challenged)

while walking around I was struck by the smooth surface of the aged wooden post and the loose fibers of the frayed rope.

what do you think?

I was struck by how this sawed off trunk was literally layered by the vines of the ivy. It must have been something to see it earlier in life when the leaves would change. now it waits at the Topeka Zoological Park for the next stage of life - what that will be I have no idea but it won't be wasted that I know

The bark, the twists and turns of one plant on the other, the leaves caught after the wind had blown, even the saw marks make interesting textures for me.

I hope you agree.

This is part of a turkey feather blanket made about 1000 CE. What appear to be beads are the quills wrapped tightly around the fibrous net. The plumes have all been eaten away by rodents. In an adjacent display case there was an intact blanket with all the feathers preserved (did not photograph well).
